How to Access Aged Care Services
To start off your journey for getting aged care services, you can read up on My Aged Care, the Australian-government owned site that provides details about the process.
Step 1: Contact the aged care service provider for an assessment.
Before accessing any government-funded service such as My Aged Care, you will first have to be assessed by the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). To organise the assessment, call 1800 200 422. After the assessment, you will receive a letter detailing which level of services you can avail.
Step 2: Obtain a financial assessment.
To work out the costs with the aged care services provider and what the Government can fund for you, you will need to obtain a financial assessment from the Department of Human Services or the Department of Veteran Affairs. This financial assessment, called the Request for Income & Asset Assessment, will help determine whether you are eligible to receive assistance with your accommodation costs from the Government and if you need to pay a means-tested care fee.
Step 3: Discuss the application process with Village Glen.
Call Village Glen and discuss with us the costs specific to you and Village Glen Aged Care Residences. We can fill you in about what rooms, facilities and services you can access based on the results of the assessments.
